LeRoy was a teller of tales and a mender of things, whose singing and violin playing instilled in his children and grandchildren a love of music. His painting and drawings gave a desire to create. His sense of humor and love of the Hawkeyes and Cubs taught great things can come to those who wait and in the latter’s case and wait and wait and wait. His generosity extended to giving treats to sanitation workers and fellow employees at the Pack. His childhood and military stories inspired a daughter to write. He was a builder of bonfires on summer nights when he taught one to spot the constellations in Heaven where he now resides.
Surviving are his children, Susan Lynn (Gordon) Olseen, of Tipton, IA. And Paulette (Terry) Myers, of Dubuque; grandchildren, Kristine (Christopher) Cheruk and Steven (Angela) Olseen; and great- grandchildren.
